Driving Sustainability: Highlights from Recent MIBA Events

The MIBA recently hosted two virtual events that highlight our dedication to the sustainability sector, one of our six key focus areas.

We wrapped up August with a Connecting Communities event, Global Innovation & Entrepreneurship, co-hosted with Americans for Ben-Gurion University (BGU).  Featured speakers included Josh Peleg and Shirley Sheffer-Hoffman from BGN, BGU’s tech transfer company in the Negev region of Israel. Peleg and Sheffer-Hoffman were joined by MIBA CEO Scott Hiipakka for an engaging discussion. The three shared insights on water and energy challenges in both regions and their respective roles in driving sustainable solutions. They emphasized the potential for collaboration between Michigan and Israel.

Our Experience Innovation event, From Waste to Worth: Transforming Waste for the Circular Economy, showcased five Israeli companies—Boson Energy, Daika Wood, Re-Fresh Global, Triple W and UBQ (read more about these companies here).  Attendees learned how these innovators are turning waste into valuable resources, contributing to a more sustainable future. From the Michigan side, we heard from Dan Radomski of the Centrepolis Accelerator at Lawrence Tech.

If you missed either of these discussions, view recordings below.  We look forward to seeing you at future MIBA events as we continue to connect innovation with sustainability.
