This December, the AgTech spotlight shone brightly on Grand Rapids as the Great Lakes Expo welcomed five groundbreaking Israeli startups, showcasing the innovation powerhouse that is Startup Nation. For three days, the Expo became a hub of transformative ideas, where AgTech leaders from Michigan and beyond engaged with cutting-edge solutions addressing agriculture’s most pressing challenges.
The MIBA hosted eight leaders representing Israel’s HealthTech companies for four days of impactful conversations, meetings and events in the Detroit, Lansing, and Grand Rapids areas. The companies represented solutions to challenges across the healthcare spectrum – from virtual reality-based therapies and training to AI-driven innovations that support hospital operations, logistics, patient support, and quality of care. The delegates represented innovations that can improve patient outcomes and reduce costs across the healthcare sector.
As we approach almost a year since the devastating events of October 7th, a group of social entrepreneurs from Israel’s southern region visited Detroit during their Midwest tour with the Restart Delegation from Kolot. These dedicated entrepreneurs are leading initiatives to rebuild and revitalize their communities.
The MIBA partnered with Global Ties Detroit as they welcomed a delegation of Israeli business leaders through the International Visitor Leadership Program. The group, visiting Detroit as part of a broader U.S. tour, engaged in discussions aimed at fostering cross-border partnerships and exploring opportunities in innovation.
The MIBA hosted a defense delegation from Israel in partnership with the Israel Ministry of Defense’s Directorate for International Cooperation (SIBAT). A diverse set of six companies accompanied three senior leaders from the SIBAT for four days of meetings, events, and activities that connected them with potential customers, partners, and resources in Michigan that can help them “Make it in Michigan”.
The first-ever Women in Mobility delegation to Michigan, an initiative spearheaded by Israeli smart mobility community leader Orlie Gruper, toured Metro Detroit businesses, exchanged ideas and forged new relationships between the two tech hubs. The delegation was also made possible thanks to partnerships with Michigan Israel Business Accelerator (MIBA), Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), and the Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME) of the State of Michigan.
