Business Development Intern – Michigan Israel Business Bridge

The Michigan-Israel Business Bridge (MIBB) is a non profit organization that facilitates business development and technical collaboration between Michigan and Israel based companies. MIBB was founded in 2007 by a group of leading Michigan executives and entrepreneurs to marry innovations from Israeli technology companies with the manufacturing and distribution power of Michigan and Midwest companies. MIBB holds regular Michigan-Israel business exchanges, facilitates missions to Israel, including one by Michigan Governor Granholm. Business outcomes include Michigan-Israel Joint Ventures established in Michigan, and BIRD funded Michigan-Israel joint R&D projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Business Development Internship Program is an intensive six-month opportunity that provides work within a fast-paced and challenging environment. Business Development interns contribute to meaningful projects, interacting and working side by side with business development experts from the MIBB network. Our internship program also provides a robust series of networking opportunities with industry executives from Michigan companies and promising technology companies. Interns are expected to work fifteen (15) hours a week as a non-paid volunteer.

Business Development interns will work with the MIBB executive leadership, executive committee members, and executives of member companies. Interns will apply business acumen, financial, and negotiating skills to establish collaborations that facilitate development and commercialization of technology and products to bring important new revenue streams to Michigan companies. The Business Development function of MIBB continually strives to identify and evaluate novel opportunities that result in the forging of strong strategic alliances within the extended network of MIBB members and supporters. A Business Development intern may work with multiple departments in the client companies, such as Research and Engineering, Market Development, Finance, Marketing, Product Development, Regulatory, and Process Development, to assess the technical merit, potential market size, competitive outlook, and strategic fit of business opportunities relative to member's existing portfolio.

MIBB has identified its areas of focus to be: Sustainable Energy and Cleantech; Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing;  Life Sciences and Healthcare; Homeland Security and Defense; and Information Technology. Business Development also has a group dedicated to enabling activities such as identification of manufacturing partners, and innovation match-making.

QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications for Business Development Internship positions include but are not limited to:
* Strong quantitative and analytical skills
* Demonstrated potential and ability to effectively interact with executives and senior leaders
* Demonstrated leadership skills and experience
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
